Do-It-Yourself | Cruise Reservations on Your Own

Posted by Kimberly

If you can’t already tell I am a huge fan of Travel agents and if you find the right one they can quickly become your best friend. Travel agents will notify you of deals and promotions before they even hit the market, allowing you to have first choice of cabin selections and other pre and post options. However I completely understand the “do-it-yourself” attitude. Travel wholesalers like Expedia, Travelocity and even the cruise lines direct website can offer great value and specials only available if booked online. Choosing to book this way allows you to do it from the convenience of your own home and you can book what you want when you want it. Booking a cruise online is a great option for people that cruise often and on the same cruise line. They already know what to expect and will not need explanation of the ship or it’s onboard amenities and are most likely looking for the best deal.

I suggest booking your air, pre and post hotels and transfers with the same vendor that you have booked your cruise with. Having all your travel elements booked with one vendor makes it easier on you in case flights are canceled or you miss a connection. You will only have to call one number and not five should you have any problems on your vacation.

If you are new to cruising or have just a few cruises under your belt be prepared to do a lot of research. Booking your cruise online although easy does require many hours of researching and reading in order to find the cruise line and cruise ship that’s right for you. Be patient and take your time when choosing a cruise. Please take a look through our website for details and tips regarding the components you need to consider when deciding on your cruise travels.
